Material Magazine
Material Magazine received a complete redesign. Alexis Zurflüh and ÉTÉ STUDIO redefined not only the graphics, aesthetics, and visual language but also took on the challenge of customizing the typography to perfectly complement the magazine’s new identity.

Working with the bold Material Sans and the figurative Material Serif fonts was a real joy—crafting a distinctive typographic solution that shapes a fresh visual identity for the magazine. Diving deep into the depths of the web, we discovered a remarkable Chinese font with over 5,000 characters, designed for daily Chinese communication. Playfully combined with a few Latin letters, we reused and reworked the spacing and kerning to make it perfectly fit the magazine’s aesthetic.
